
About Ahmed Farag
Ahmed Farag is an accomplished conductor and the Founder and Artistic Director of Hathor Symphony Orchestra. His formal musical education began at the Cairo Conservatoire (1999–2007), followed by his studies at the Haute École de Musique (HEM) in Geneva, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree 2011, a Master’s in Concert Performance 2013, and a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting (2013–2015).
Since 2015, he has held a conducting position at the Cairo Opera House, regularly conducting performances with both the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and the Cairo Opera Orchestra. His repertoire spans a wide range of genres, including classical ballet, symphonic masterworks, and operatic productions.
In 2021, he founded Hathor Symphony Orchestra, a dynamic Orchestra dedicated to innovative programming and cultural exchange. Under his leadership, the orchestra has earned growing recognition, performing at prestigious events such as the 2024 and 2025 Festival Culturel International de Musique Symphonique in Algiers, El Gouna International Film Festival, the Citadel Music Festival, and the Arab Music Festival.
Ahmed’s recent conducting highlights include Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty (2024), the Egyptian premiere of Puccini’s Il Trittico (2025), and the 2022 premiere of The Fountain of Bakhchisarai ballet.

With the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, his performances have included works such as Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Golden Cockerel, and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. With the Cairo Opera Orchestra, he has conducted landmark productions including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Magic Flute, Carmina Burana, and Scheherazade.
He has also led concerts with the Alexandria Bibliotheca Chamber Orchestra and Alexandria Opera Orchestra, conducting works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and Julius von Beliczay.
Ahmed Farag’s broad repertoire includes works by Mozart, Stravinsky, Brahms, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Poulenc, Franck, Shostakovich, Bruckner, Mahler, Bernstein, Prokofiev, Holst, Bartók, and Honegger. He is widely recognized for his musical insight, expressive clarity, and dedication to both classical tradition and contemporary interpretation.
